Beginning Knitters Finished size: will stretch to fit the average woman's hand Materials: 1 skein Claudia Hand Paint Merino Wool (180 yds/50 grams); US 3 (3.25mm) double point needles and US 3 needles. Gauge: 6 sts = 1" in rib pattern fully stretched on US 3 double point needles or size to get gauge Note: The gloves begin with the ruffle that is knit in garter stitch. You knit the ruffle back and forth. Once the ruffle is finished you transfer the stitches to three double point needles and join them to knit in the round in 2x2 rib. Instructions: With US 3 needle cast on 192 sts. Knit one row in garter stitch (all knit). Row 2: K2tog until the end of the row. (96sts) Row 3: Knit Row 4: K2tog until the end of the row. (48 sts) Transfer sts to US 3 double point needles placing 16 sts on each of the three needles. Join and work in K2, P2 rib for 4.5". Thumb Opening Turn work and now work back and forth on the double point needles as follows Next row (WS): K3, work in ribbing until last three sts, k3. Next row (RS): K2, p1, work in ribbing until last three sts, p1, k2. Repeat these last two rows until the opening measures approximately 1.5" finishing with a WS row. Rejoin sts and con't to knit in the round in rib until glove measures approximately 7.5" from the beg of the ruffled edge. Bind off all sts in rib.
