Spend Saturday, June 26 with designer and author, Bruce Weinstein: Reversible Cable Scarf workshop and book signing - 6/22/2010 Bruce Weinstein’s Reversible Cable Scarf workshop will be held on Saturday, June 26, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Lenox Library, 18 Main St., Lenox.MA. Reversibility in scarves is most appreciated by scarf wearers and Bruce will teach how to achieve this with cables. Using a cabled scarf from his recently released book, Knits Men Want, he will also explain how to alter this pattern for other weights of yarn. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required. Workshop Description Bruce believes most men are oblivious to what they wear and will often wear their clothes inside out without ever noticing. He counters this trait in his book with several reversible knits, one being a handsome reversible cable scarf. Using this pattern Bruce will demonstrate how to knit reversible cables, a technique applicable to any other knitting project. He will further explain how to alter the pattern stitch to suit other yarn weights. As part of the workshop Bruce will share his ten tested rules for successfully knitting for men and why only ten patterns are all you’ll ever need. The workshop is open to knitters who know the basics of knitting. There will be a 45-minute lunch break. Lunch is not provided. Book Signing Bruce will sign his book, Knits Men Want: the 10 Rules Every Woman Should Know Before Knitting for a Man – Plus the Only 10 Patters She’ll Ever Need, from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm at Colorful Stitches, 48 Main St., (rear of bldg.) Lenox MA. Light refreshments, prepared by Bruce, will be served. Bruce understands that as long as women have been knitting they’ve been knitting garments for men and finding more often than not that these men have been hiding away their loving creations in drawers and closets. To help women understand the male psyche Bruce presents hilarious essays, each based on a rule that will help women knit for men successfully. “Men Are Babies” explains why guys need to wear soft fabrics. “Men Hate Fittings” describes how to create a sweater based on one that’s in his wardrobe.
